CASANOVA–OAK KNOLL, Monterey — October 28, 2026. Residents following Monterey’s Neighborhood and Community Improvement Program (NCIP) have several specific pedestrian-safety proposals to monitor in Casanova–Oak Knoll. The city’s January 21, 2026 NCIP committee packet included projects aimed at filling sidewalk gaps and helping fund a connecting bike-and-pedestrian route.
What the city had under review
Its archival project list identified four distinct budget entries: Ramona Avenue sidewalk infill (ncp2508, $21,688); sidewalk infill near 801 Casanova Avenue (ncp2510, $14,000); a North Fremont Gap bike/pedestrian path matching-funds project (ncp2513, $250,000); and a small infill item at 57 Melway Circle (ncp2514, $1,000).
The amounts above are the available project balances listed in the January budget-review records. They are not current construction contracts, new October allocations or guarantees that specific work has been completed. The city was reviewing funding and the possibility of reallocating money from inactive or unstarted projects.
Why this matters now
The City of Monterey’s official meeting calendar lists another NCIP committee review for Wednesday, October 28, at 6 p.m., followed by a committee voting night scheduled for November 18. Residents should use the current agenda to determine which 2026/27 nominations are actually on the table; the January list must not be mistaken for tonight’s agenda.
